In Your Own Voice: Competition Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and over. Submissions are welcome from LGBTQIA+ writers and allies worldwide. Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of Dudley Editions are not eligible to enter.
2. Submission Requirements
- Stories must be original, unpublished works of fiction or non-fiction under 2,500 words.
- Only one entry per person is allowed.
- Entries must not contain explicit sexual content or graphic violence.
- Submissions must be made via the official form by 11:59 PM (BST) on June 27, 2025.
- Acceptable file formats: .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
3. Selection and Publication
- Up to ten (10) works will be selected as winners by the Dudley Editions editorial team.
- Criteria include originality, tone, craft, and suitability for the platform.
- Winning stories will be published as available personalised audiobooks, hosted on the Dudley Editions platform.
- Winners will receive 10 share codes to distribute their stories for free.
- Select, elligible stories will also be made available for others to purchase and share in the app.
4. Rights and Use
- Entrants retain full copyright of their submitted work.
- By entering, you grant Dudley Editions an exclusive licence to:
- •publish the story in audio format on the Dudley Editions platform;
- •use brief excerpts of the story (with attribution) for marketing and promotion across Dudley Editions channels (e.g., website, newsletter, social media).
If you are chosen for publication with Dudley Editions, you will be offered our standard author contract, which lays out our publication terms, including royalties.
- You confirm that the submitted work is entirely your own and does not infringe upon any third-party rights, including copyright, moral rights, or trademarks.
5. Disqualification and Content Standards
- Dudley Editions reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:
- •is incomplete or submitted after the deadline,
- •does not meet the competition guidelines,
- •contains offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate material,
- •is found to have plagiarised or misrepresented content.
6. Notification
- Winners will be notified via email by July 03, 2025.
- Winners will be announced publicly July 05, 2025.
- If a winner does not respond within 7 days, Dudley Editions reserves the right to select an alternative.
7. Data Protection and Privacy
- Personal data collected during submission (e.g., name, email address) will be used solely for the purpose of administering the competition and publishing selected stories.
- All data will be handled in accordance with Dudley Editions’ Privacy Policy and will not be shared with third parties without consent.
8. Platform Usage
- Participation in this competition does not grant access to other features of the Dudley Editions platform unless separately agreed.
- Use of the platform is subject to Dudley Editions’ standard Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
Dudley Editions is not responsible for technical issues, lost submissions, or third-party errors. Participation is at your own risk.
10. Amendments and Cancellation
Dudley Editions reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the competition or these terms at any time without prior notice, including due to circumstances beyond its control.
11. Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.

By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
